Special Announcement for those with Exemption that require yearly renewals.
On May 24, 2021 House Bill 3289 passed both house and was signed by Governor Pritzker on July 26th. This now allows Will County to automatically approve certain exemptions without application for 2021 like in 2020. Therefore, the Supervisor of Assessments office will NOT be sending out any mass mailing of renewal applications for 2021.
The following exemptions will automatically be approved for any Will County resident who received the exemption in 2020 and are still residing in the same property for 2021. No renewal forms will be sent for the 2020 levy year.
- Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption (35 ILCS 200/15-172)
- Homestead Exemption for Persons with Disabilities (35 ILCS 200/15-168)
- Standard Homestead Exemption for veterans with Disabilities (35 ILCS 200/15-169)
Any NEW applicants need to apply for their desired exemption!
